Helen Braithwaite, Ph.D., met with delegates from the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Thailand who were at UCI to conduct a study visit entitled “Science Before Politics: Capacity Building Workshop on Justice Evidence-Based Research.”  She presented on the following topics: Development of the California Static Risk Assessment (CSRA) risk tool; An evaluation of the Parole Violation Decision Making Instrument (PVDMI); An NIJ-funded project on the fiscal crisis in corrections (prison closings); and evaluation of parole reform in California. Professor Richard McCleary also presented on projecting inmate populations, and Greg Boston, Director of Inmate Services at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD)presented on the In-Custody Transition Program (ICTP).
